A former deputy minister sanctioned by Magnitsky condemned the anti-corruption commission

One of those sanctioned by the law, Magnitsky, won a lawsuit against the anti-corruption commission.

Former Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Manolev is not in a conflict of interest, the Sofia Administrative Court ruled. Thus, the commission of Sotir Tsatsarov must pay the costs of the case of BGN 6,000.

According to information from bTV the commission will appeal.

According to the court, KPKONPI has not proved that, as Deputy Minister of Economy, Alexander Manolev has influenced the state fund “Agriculture” under the rural program. Therefore, he canceled the fine of BGN 10,000 imposed on him.

Manolev resigned in 2019 after the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the misuse of European funds in rural tourism guest houses.

After that, Manolev entered the first “Magnitsky” list for serious corruption, announced by the United States in June this year.
