A signal for a fire in the Department of Vascular Surgery at the St. George University Hospital was submitted on 112 at 9:47 p.m. Five fire trucks were immediately sent to the hospital, but the actual situation required the use of only two of the crews and equipment.

The fire was caused by a faulty heating appliance – an indoor unit of an air conditioner. The fire broke out in a recreation room of the medical staff, which is located on the 8th floor of the building where the vascular surgery clinic is located.

Upon arrival of the firefighters, a slight smoke was found in the corridor. Only 6 people, part of the medical staff, had to be evacuated. With their extremely quick reaction, the firefighters extinguished the fire and managed to prevent a more serious accident.
