This morning the thermometers showed -14 degrees in Dragoman
The night after St. Todor’s Day was almost cloudless and cold. The forecasts came true and in Dragoman in the early hours of Sunday the thermometers hit minus 14 degrees, in Kazanlak – minus 11, in Sofia and Kyustendil – minus 9. In the mountains the coldest was on Mount Musala – minus 20 degrees.
From north to south, the clouds began to increase – a process that will continue during the day with breaks in the afternoon and evening. Rainfall in the lower part of the country is not expected – if there are any, they will be insignificant. The wind during the day will be from the west and with it will temporarily blow warmer air. Afternoon temperatures will be between 4 and 9 degrees with the highest values in Northwestern Bulgaria.
In the mountains there is a possibility of light snowfall in the Rila-Rhodope massifs. It will feel warm and after the frosty weather in the last days the temperatures in the warm part of the day will be from minus 3 to minus 9 degrees.
On Monday it will be sunny in Western and Central Bulgaria with visible clouds in the east. Temperatures in the morning will drop again to minus 6 – minus 7 degrees in some valleys, but then will be in the range of 5 to 10 degrees.
On Tuesday and Wednesday the clouds will be variable and often significant, but the warming will continue. On Wednesday afternoon, however, it will rain, which in the evening and on Thursday with the fall of temperatures will turn into snow in the mountains, in some areas around them and in Ludogorie. The east wind will intensify, which will have strong gusts in the areas to the east. In the last days of the week, rainfall will be scarce, but it will remain cold and windy for the beginning of the astronomical spring on Sunday, March 20.
