a developer has made heavy accusations against Ember Lab

The development of Kena: Bridge of Spirits seems to be accompanied by some problems. After recent postponement there are other problems for Ember Lab: a developer has in fact claimed to have been “maliciously” removed from the project.

According to the information in the possession of the VGC editorial staff, Brandon Popovich – programmer and designer with experiences at Insomniac and Skydance – would have worked on Kena: Bridge of Spirits in 2017 creating, according to his own claims, 95% of the code. The developer also claimed to not having received part of the payments expected for his work. A second employee of the firm, who wished to remain anonymous, would also have argued a similar situation. VGC has shown some email exchanges that appear to back up those allegations.

Ember Lab for its part, it defended itself by issuing a statement that reads: “Brandon’s statements include a number of false allegations that detract from the efforts of those who worked on the original prototype on Unity and team members who have worked hard for the past 5 years. The design document, concepts, characters, and prototype in fully functional Unity, including core mechanics, were developed prior to Popovich’s arrival. Brandon was fully rewarded for all his work focused on migrating the game’s features from Unity to Unreal using UE4 Blueprints. No part of the work used for the prototype is now used in production. When it came time to build the development team, we offered a position to Brandon who declined. We built our dream game together with the efforts of a dedicated work team and are saddened by these painful accusations“.

Waiting to understand if the story will have developments that could compromise the release of the game, we remind you that you can find ours anteprima di Kena: Brigde of Spirits on the pages of Everyeye.
