A delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain visited Burgas for the first time and met with Mayor Dimitar Nikolov to discuss their desire for cooperation and opportunities for development and investment in the field of sports in the seaside city. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Sports and Tourism in Burgas Municipality, Manol Todorov.
The guests were led by Mohammed Shahid – President of Brave Combat Federation, a global mixed martial arts organization in Bahrain, Advisor to the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and founder of the MMA team – KHK. He is the first mixed martial artist to represent Bahrain in a global MMA event.
Mr. Shahid shared during the conversation that they chose the city because of the excellent opportunities it provides for developing sports activities, tourism opportunities and business development. He also expressed his desire to build a sports center for combat sports in Burgas.
The first step towards this could be organizing an elite MMA Gala this summer in Burgas.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov presented the sports and infrastructure facilities in the city, providing conditions for joint cooperation, and told the guests that he would be happy for the seaside city to host the sports event.
The guests shared that after the meeting they will visit Arena Burgas Hall and Sea Station as possible venues for the Gala in the evening, and everything from the visit to Burgas will be reported to His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is already familiar with the activity of the Municipality, the representatives from the Bulgarian Fight Agency and the hosting of the elite K1 circuit GLORY in 2023.
