An unfortunate surprise for the inhabitants of an apartment building in Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes. They just saw the electricity bill for heating multiply by seven, a new figure that went from 90,000 to … 680,000 euros. An account that is bad for the inhabitants, who will have to be more vigilant.

The increase in the price of energy is felt in this condominium in Nice. The estimate of electricity for heating has just dropped at the dawn of the beginning of the winter season: the figure has been multiplied by seven, the fault of the inhabitants. “It cost us around € 1,000 a month,” explains Maïté. “We were around 100 euros, but there, 1,000 euros … Such sums are unthinkable”.

Between 684,000 euros and 1 million euros for one hundred families. The prices for eight months of heating are exasperating in this residence in Nice, so Arthur has preferred to stop spending with his partner who is about to give birth. He bought extra electric heaters. “We all agree. The difference in the bill is so great that we thought we would make an effort this year. It is a residence that was built in the 1950s. It will be an opportunity to work to better insulate the apartments, or to find alternative solutions “. Insulate the facades, the roof, change the obsolete underfloor heating system … In this former residential complex, the bill promises to be high.

The heating will remain off until January

Didier Daubeze heads Fort Immo, the co-ownership trustee. He regrets the lack of anticipation. “It’s not specific to this building,” he explains. “It’s a general problem, which is also linked to the cost of living. We should have anticipated, planned certain jobs. But how can we anticipate a war with a price and speculation?” In this residence the heating will remain off at least until the next general meeting, scheduled for January. The co-owners will then have in their hands new quotes and information on the price shield to which they appear to be entitled.
