JAKARTA, JAMBIEKSPRES.CO.ID —Besides being economical, Pertalite’s fuel substitute, namely CNG, is guaranteed to be very economical.

For the price, it’s a far cry from Pertalite. The price of methane (compressed natural gas) per liter is IDR 3,000.

Compare that to Pertalite, which currently costs Rp. 10,000 per litre.

As far as economics go, methane is 55 percent cheaper than Pertalite.

Methane is a gaseous fuel obtained by compressing methane (CH4) extracted from natural gas or also known as compressed natural gas.

This petrol substitute from Rp. 3,000 is cheaper than fuel oil.

CNG is also revealed by Pertamina to be more efficient and has performances that are not inferior to petrol.

The government’s move to introduce a new fuel to replace BBM is due to reduce the impact of motor vehicle exhaust emissions by developing various technologies, ranging from electric vehicles to alternative fuels.

The chief director of PGN (State Gas Company), M Haryo Yunianto explained that the use of methane as a substitute for gasoline is 55% more efficient than perthalite.

Not only that, when applying methane all that remains is to add a methane pipe measuring 14 x 53 cm so that it does not interfere with driving comfort for use on the motorbike.

M Haryo Yunianto explained that in addition to being cheaper than gasoline, CNG also performs better than perthalite because it is made of CNG which is clean and has a high octane rating.

With a high octane number, of course, it will be able to produce perfect combustion so that the methane not only provides good performance but also produces environmentally friendly exhaust emissions.

Again with M Haryo Yunianto, calculations made by Pertamina, using Pertalite fuel at 4 liters per day, when converted to CNG, the fuel subsidy is 125,000 kiloliters per year or more to replace petrol which is 55 percent more efficient.

Obviously safety is an important aspect, according to Haryo the safety level for methane is very good because it has a pressure of 200 bar, with a bigger tank than LGV and made of steel material.
