Foldable smartphones are still a new technology. SamsungAlthough many different models have been launched in a short time with the work of companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo, the prices are still higher than standard smartphones in general. Although foldable phone prices are expected to decrease in the future, a recent report was interpreted as quite remarkable.
FOLDABLE PHONE UNDER $800
According to a new report, Samsung is trying to launch a foldable display for under $800 in the next two years. ETNews reported that Samsung is in development of “an entry-level foldable smartphone under 1 million won.” Converted with the current exchange rate, Samsung’s target price for this foldable is about $800.
Samsung is apparently targeting 2024 as a possible release date for these smartphones.
HOW DOES SAMSUNG PLAN TO REDUCE THE PRICE?
Allegedly, Samsung will try to launch a more affordable foldable phone by removing premium features and supporting only basic functions. For example, if it wants to design a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip-style phone, it could use a more affordable chip to remove the external display, wireless charging and water resistance.
It’s unclear if Samsung has a more affordable foldable phone plan, though reports are coming in.
