2. The process of forming black holes

Black holes mostly come from the remains of large, dead stars. When a large star experiences the final stages of its life, it can explode in a phenomenon called a supernova. Although this explosion sends most of the star’s material into space, the star’s core remains. If the gravity of this core is very strong, it can cause the matter to collapse inward, creating a black hole.

When a star collapses to that point, a phenomenon called “event horizon” occurs. At this point, time becomes relative. A star approaching the event horizon will appear to have stopped in time when viewed from afar, even though it continues to collapse.

3. Shapes and Types of Black Holes

Not all black holes are the same. Some originate from collapsing stars, while others may form from collisions between stars or from the collapse of gas in space. Larger black holes, with masses up to 100,000 times the sun, are believed to form from this process.

Scientists also hypothesize the existence of different types of black holes. For example, stellar black holes form from the collapse of the center of a massive star. Meanwhile, supermassive black holes, which have masses millions to billions of times the sun, are believed to exist at the center of most galaxies, including our galaxy, the Milky Way.

In an effort to understand more about black holes and their role in the universe, research continues. This phenomenon, although mysterious, provides valuable insight into the universe and its origins. With each new discovery, we move closer to understanding one of the greatest mysteries of the cosmos.
