Confederation Bouw angry with the Planckaerts: “They are sinning against almost all safety rules” | TV

With more than a million viewers, ‘Château Planckaert’ is one of the most popular TV programs of the moment, but it is not to everyone’s taste. The well-known family is renovating a dilapidated castle in France, but according to the Construction Confederation is violating almost all safety rules in construction. “Eddy and co are not doing well, even though they once sang they were”, it sounds. To emphasize the importance of safety in construction, the Construction Confederation has been running the www.safetymypriority.be campaign for a year and a half.

The Planckaert family has been the most popular family in docusoapland for two decades. For several weeks now, one “Château Planckaert” has been running on Sunday evening, a program in which the family tries to restore a dilapidated castle in France. “Anyone who works in the construction industry and therefore knows the necessary safety rules, will be shocked at the face of the Planckaerts’ activities. Even as handymen they would better adhere to essential safety regulations, otherwise we end up in the hospital with one of the family members in one of the next episodes, ”said the Confederation Construction in a press release.

The Confederation Building lists some examples of serious errors from the most recent October 18 issue:

– OSB plates that are lifted with a crane, but with unevenly distributed weight. A load shot loose and the inexperienced crane operator Junior hit the lifting forks of the crane against his head, causing bruises.

– When sawing through load-bearing roof beams, Francesco balanced over the roof beams, but without any fuse or fall protection.

– Sawing through load-bearing roof beams while standing on the roof itself. Dangerous here too.

– Stand within the turning circle of the crane

“In other words, the Planckaerts are not setting a good example at all, even though they have been active in the construction and renovation sector for years,” he says. “But while construction companies are placing more and more emphasis on safety, we can speak frankly of amateurism in this family. And that is particularly dangerous in the construction sector. ”

That is why the Construction Confederation launched the ‘Safety My Priority’ campaign eighteen months ago, which aims to raise awareness and halve the number of occupational accidents in construction. On the website www.safetymypriority.be contractors can sign the charter making them a commitment to make safety a top priority. Advice can also be found, for example about working at height. Undoubtedly also useful to know for the Planckaerts.
