The Egyptian Football Association decided to send the names of the first four clubs of the Premier League competition to the African Union to participate in the next two African club championships and to address CAF to extend the deadline for sending club names, which expires next Tuesday to the end of this month, to resolve the situation.
Al-Ahly won the league championship to confirm its participation in the Champions League, while Zamalek, second-place, and Pyramids, third-place, are fighting for the last seat in the champions, while Smouha, fifth-placed, competes with the Arab Contractors, fourth-placed, for the last seat in the Confederation Championship.
A source said Laila Kora that the decision of the Football Association comes similar to what happened last season, given that the Egyptian Cup this season will end at a time close to the launch of the new version of the African championships, and this results in the participation of the first and second places in the African League Championship, while the third and fourth will participate. In the confederation.
The source, who refused to be identified, added that the request for the deadline came because the second place was not decided except in the last round of the league competition, and there is a possibility that the competition for fourth place will extend to the last round as well if it is not decided today during the Egypt clearing match with Smouha.
The Egyptian Federation’s request comes in light of the possibility that CAF will wait until the end of the league championship on November 6, due to the possibility of Zamalek winning it, which, if it happens, will be able to participate with him in the tournament even if his ranking in the league comes after the first and second places.
