The number of unemployed persons above the age of 15 and those children in Turkey decreased by 369 thousand persons compared to the same period last year, in July 2020 was 4 million 227 thousand people. Unemployment rate realized as 13.4 percent with 0.5 percentage point decrease. Non-agricultural unemployment rate was 15.9 percent with a 0.6 percentage point decrease.
The number of employed people decreased by 1 million 254 thousand people to 27 million 263 thousand people in the period of July 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, and the employment rate was 43.5 percent with a 2.9 percentage point decrease.
During this period, the number of employed persons decreased by 361 thousand in the agricultural sector, 246 thousand in the industrial sector, 761 thousand in the service sector, and 114 thousand in the construction sector. 19.4 percent of the employed were in agriculture, 19.6 percent in industry, 6.1 percent in construction and 54.9 percent in service sector.

LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE 50.3 PERCENT
The labor force decreased by 1 million 622 thousand people to 31 million 491 thousand people in the July 2020 period compared to the same period of the previous year, and the labor force participation rate was 50.3 percent with a 3.5 percentage point decrease.
The ratio of unregistered employees, which shows the share of employees who are not affiliated to any social security institution in the total employees in the period of July 2020, decreased by 3.3 points compared to the same period of the previous year and realized as 32.7 percent. The rate of unregistered workers in the non-agricultural sector decreased by 3.1 points compared to the same period of the previous year and became 20.1 percent.
In the 15-64 age group, the unemployment rate was 13.7 percent with a 0.5 percentage point decrease compared to the same period of the previous year, and the non-agricultural unemployment rate was 16.0 percent with a 0.6 percentage point decrease. In this age group, the employment rate was 48.3 percent with a 2.7 percentage point decrease, and the labor force participation rate was 55.9 percent with a 3.6 percentage point decrease.

YOUNG POPULATION UNEMPLOYMENT 25.9 PERCENT
The unemployment rate for the young population covering the 15-24 age group was 25.9 percent with a 1.2 point decrease compared to the same period of the previous year, and the employment rate decreased by 4.5 points to 30.4 percent. In the same period, the labor force participation rate decreased by 6.8 points to 41.0 percent. The rate of those who were neither in education nor in employment was 29.8 percent with an increase of 0.4 points compared to the same period of the previous year.
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 13.6 percent, decreasing 0.5 points compared to the previous period. The number of unemployed people decreased by 75 thousand people compared to the previous period and reached 4 million 207 thousand people.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate increased by 0.8 points compared to the previous period and became 42.6 percent. The number of employed people increased by 540 thousand and was estimated as 26 million 648 thousand people.
