Community members detained in the Angol prison would start a dry hunger strike this Monday | National

Ensuring that the Government did not adopt the commitments agreed upon in a secret meeting, the Mapuche prisoners of the Angol Prison in La Araucanía would begin, from this Monday, a dry hunger strike.

The spokesperson for the community members who are on a liquid hunger strike for 112 days, Rodrigo Curipán, revealed that a secret meeting was held with the Minister of Justice, Hernán Larraín, last August 9.

This was carried out in offices of the Government of Malleco and it was agreed to grant 12 days to unblock the petition, a date that has already been fulfilled, said Curipán.

Thus he indicated that the 12 days were requested “not only to find a solution, but also to address what we have been pointing out, a work table ”, the spokesperson explained.

Curipán pointed out that both he, Victor Queipul and Daniel Malinao visited the eight striking community members and agreed that since the Government failed, andThis Monday they would begin the most restrictive measure.

“In the face of deception, basically from the Government, or from lack of transparency or lack of political will to respect agreements (…) the Peñis would start a dry strike on Monday at 09:00, ″ the spokesperson concluded.
