The national golfer Joaquin Niemann had an auspicious debut in the The Northern Trust, the first tournament of the three that make up the Playoffs del PGA Tour.
On his first day of competition in Massachusetts, ‘Joaking’ finished with a score of -3 and at T11. His position, however, could vary pending what other players do.
Niemann got off to a promising start, with birdies on holes 1 and 2. However, bogeys at flags 4 and 8 overshadowed his great start.
Then, the Chilean added another four birdies on holes 9, 15, 16 and 18. In between, on the 17th, he registered his third and last bogey of the day.
Niemann was well positioned, thinking about the cut of this tournament, and what would allow him to play the remaining two Playoffs.
The Northern Trust is led, momentarily, by the local Harris English, a teammate of Niemann, who scored a -7.
It is worth mentioning that this tournament is disputed by the 125 best players in the FedEx ranking, which qualifies those with the best performance in the season, and where ‘Joaking’ is ranked 26.
He BMW Championship y el Tour Championship, the other two PGA Playoffs tournaments, brings together only the top 70 and 30 of the season, respectively.
