On Monday afternoon, 20.2 tons of medical supplies arrived to continue facing the covid-19 pandemic, despite the blockades that have been implemented in Venezuela from the United States.
This was announced by the Sectorial Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism of Venezuela, Aristóbulo Istúriz in the company of the Minister of Popular Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, who received the shipment in Maiquetía, La Guaira state.
In this regard, Istúriz stressed that this is the fourth humanitarian flight that comes from China and Russia in alliance with the United Nations and the Pan American Health Organization. “This effort is significant taking into account the actions of imperialism to isolate us and try to make our people suffer,” he stressed.
For his part, Carlos Alvarado explained that among the supplies that arrived are special face masks, gowns, protective glasses and full face mask for medical personnel.
Likewise, he clarified that priority will be given in the distribution of these inputs to the states that currently have active sources of contagion, and that are listed as those that are kept in preventive quarantine. “Immediately and jointly with PAHO, these supplies will be distributed in health centers in border states such as Zulia, Táchira and Bolívar, in addition to the large capitals, where we have the main sources.”
Teams will also be administered to the people who accompany them, such as the staff of Somos Venezuela or the Health Committee, who do the house-to-house landscapes, the minister said.
Finally, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, Alvarado thanked the UN, WHO and PAHO for the humanitarian bridge that allows the arrival of these essential equipment for the protection of the people.
