BVB expects a loss of 45 million euros in the 2019/2020 financial year

BVB has suffered an enormous loss in the course of the corona crisis.

As the association announced in an ad hoc announcement on Monday, a group net loss of 45 million euros is expected for the 2019/2020 financial year. The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) thus amounts to around 62 million euros.

“The expected figures are to be seen as a direct impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected all Borussia Dortmund income and revenue fields,” the statement said.

In addition to the lack of audience revenue due to the ghost games, “reductions and / or refunds of advertising and VIP hospitality revenues” had a negative impact. In addition, “the global transfer market almost completely came to a standstill in the fourth quarter”.

Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co.KGaA had already withdrawn its forecast for the 2019/2020 financial year from the market in mid-March and initially made no new forecast. In May, the announcement followed that no positive consolidated annual result would be achieved.

Due to “good earnings in the past financial years” and “Group equity of around 355 million euros” as of June 30, 2019, “Dortmund is prepared to bear the expected losses”.

The BVB share was traded on Monday for EUR 6.05. On February 21, the paper was still at € 9.39, but in the middle of the corona crisis it had dropped to € 4.59 in the meantime.
