It has already been quite busy for AA Gent on the transfer market, but the showpiece is yet to come: an extra striker that will boost the competition in the front. Requirements: be a hard worker and measure at least 1.90 meters. Price? Up to six million. It may cost something.

The list is almost checked. AA Gent wanted reinforcements on the backs – Jordan Botaka and Nurio Fortuna came over – a duplication for Sven Kums – is reportedly imminent – and an extra striker to make war at the front. The attacker’s drafted profile was clear: wanting to do quite a bit of running gear, fit in with the high pressing that the Buffalos regularly use and are at least 1m90 in size. The latter is a wish of Ivan De Witte himself. In the brokerage world it is known that the chairman has a predilection for big strikers.

Wanted in Germany
The search has already brought Ghent across Europe. First in Germany where the Buffalos had a player in mind. His price tag of more than four million euros was not daunting at first, but it never came to a deal. It had to be someone else. Adolfo Gaich maybe. Club Brugge’s Argentinian target was offered for twelve million euros, but the Buffalos judged that the price / quality ratio was not good.
The name of ex-player Alexander Sørloth also came on the table, but fell off again just as quickly. The Norwegian was hired from Crystal Palace last year, but is currently leading the Turkish Süper Lig’s top marks after scoring twenty times for Trabzonspor. This increases its price considerably. Very sensitive.
