No Rammstein After-Show Parties in Berlin’s State-Owned Properties Amid Allegations Against Till Lindemann

Iris Spranger, Berlin Senator for the Interior, announced on Monday (June 12) that there will be no Rammstein after-show parties at the properties of the State of Berlin. The allegations of abuse against frontman Till Lindemann are so serious that Spranger “gave absolute priority to the protection and safety of women” and they therefore “stopped the rental contracts that were due for the after-show parties,” as the SPD politician in the Interior Committee of the House of Representatives said. According to media reports, the properties mentioned are two areas in the areas of the Olympic Park and the Olympic Pool. Both places are close to the Olympic Stadium, where the concerts take place.

Already on June 7, Spranger announced that he wanted to ban the parties. “The investigation has to be awaited, but the allegations are so serious that the protection and safety of women have absolute priority,” wrote the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport on Twitter.

Berlin’s Senator for Culture, Joe Chialo (CDU), previously said that there was no “legal leverage” for a ban on the Rammstein concerts. Spranger also came to this conclusion: “I cannot ban the concerts as such, it is not in my sovereignty,” she said.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz also apparently followed the controversy surrounding the Rammstein frontman. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit commented on this at a press conference. These are allegations that “need to be clarified” – in addition, “one or the other question should be asked of this music group,” he explained – and added “I have the feeling these questions will be asked – and now we have to wait and see how.” the answers are”.
