Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong Tests Positive for COVID-19 Again

Prime Minister (PM) Singapore Lee Hsien Loong tested positive again COVID-19 having previously tested negative for COVID-19.

Reported by the media Channel News Asia, Thursday (1/6/2023), the leader of the country of Lions tested positive for the Corona virus for the first time on May 22. Then last week, Lee had tested negative for COVID-19 and was about to return to work.

“I feel fine but I’m afraid I have come back positive for COVID-19,” said Mr Lee in a Facebook post on Thursday (1/6/2023).



“My doctor said it was a COVID rebound, which occurs in 5 to 10 percent of cases,” Lee added.

The 71-year-old Prime Minister of Singapore added that he was still transmitting it virus Corona although the risk is not as high as that of the initial infection. He said his doctor had advised him to self-isolate until he tested negative on the antigen rapid test (ART).

Lee tested positive for COVID-19 for the first time on May 22 following his visits to South Africa and Kenya. She was prescribed the antiviral drug Paxlovid due to her age, and received her latest booster vaccine in November last year.

Previously, in a Facebook post on May 28, Lee wrote that he had tested negative for COVID-19 and would return to work on Monday.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued health guidelines in May last year regarding the potential for a relapse of COVID-19, or what is called COVID-19 rebound.
