FSUE NAMI reassures public on issuance of electronic vehicle passports for imported cars

FSUE NAMI, subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, does not see global problems with the issuance of electronic vehicle passports (PTS), which St. Petersburg residents and car dealers have previously complained about. NAMI is assessing the conformity of vehicles imported as part of “parallel imports”, the press service explained to Fontanka.

This procedure takes no more than five working days, including resolving issues of clarifying the data provided in applications. “There may be some cases of delays in the execution of documents that are associated with a longer time required for the applicant to clarify the provided incorrect data,” noted NAMI.

According to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise, requests from individuals – potential owners of Changan vehicles, as well as dealers of this brand about possible difficulties with issuing electronic PTS for the cars they purchased, have recently become more frequent. “Checking the data they provided on cars shows that these vehicles were not declared to FSUE NAMI for conformity assessment,” the press service commented.

However, vehicles of this brand have valid “vehicle type approvals” and can obtain a Title without applying to FSUE NAMI for an additional conformity assessment.

Let’s remind, earlier it was reported that sales of new cars “stood up” in St. Petersburg. According to buyers, since the beginning of May, dealers have been accumulating cars that they cannot give out to customers due to lack of documents. Problems arise with imported cars – in particular, with popular Chinese brands Changan, Haval, Chery, Omoda, Exeed. In a conversation with clients, salon employees refer to the fact that the summation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI is delaying the issuance of a title, without which it is impossible to transfer the car to the buyer. However, according to car dealers, the problem lies on the side of customs and is caused by a failure that happened back in April.
