Kozhikode ∙ Kanthapuram AP, prominent Islamic religious scholar and secretary of Samasta Kerala Jamiyatul Ulema. Muhammad Musalyar (72) has passed away. He died yesterday at six in the morning while being treated at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Markus is the Vice President and first disciple of Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musalyar. He was known as little AP Ustad who demonstrated his ability to analyze and judge modern problems from an Islamic perspective.
In 1974, he became the founding general secretary of the Kozhikode Taluk SSF and came to lead the Sunni organization. He held the positions of SYS Kozhikode District President, Samasta Mushavara District Member and General Secretary. Since 1989 he has been a member of Samasta Kendra Mushavara and a member of the All India Sunni Jamiatul Ulama Executive Committee. He also currently holds the positions of Samasta Fatwa Committee Convenor, Markus Shariat College Vice Principal and Sunni Education Board Textbook Screening Committee Member.
After studying in schools like Kanthapuram, Kolikal and Mangad, Bakhavi graduated from Bakhiyat, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. In 1975, he started teaching as Vice Principal of Azizia Arabic College, Kanthapuram. He has done this job for 35 years. He served as principal at Marcus for 20 years.
Wife: Zainaba. Children: Abdullah Rafeeq, Anwar Swadiq Sakhafi (Director, Alkhamar), Ansar, Muneer, Arifa, Tashreefa. Daughters-in-law: EK Qasim Ahsani, Abdul Jabbar, Asma Kattipara and Nadira Kuttikadav. He was buried in the evening at Chullyad Juma Masjid cemetery in Karuwanpoi. Kanthapuram Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, opposition leader VD Satheesan, ministers and various people’s representatives expressed their condolences on the passing of AP Muhammad Musalyar.
