How a voice became a sensation

The announcement of concrete facts was preceded by about a month and a half of speculation. First, a well-informed Facebook page wrote that it would have leaked from several sources that free dates were being requested in the stadiums. As an example, the director of Depeche Mode Europe gave Diego Nepi, manager of Sport and Health (Olympic Stadium, Rome, Italy).

In an interview with the newspaper Repubblica, he spoke of a desired date for a Depeche Mode show in Rome between 7 June and 31 July. She does it after a corresponding request for the band.

According to several sources, it was also very certain that Depeche Mode would arrive in Berlin on October 4th. There, at a press conference, both a new studio album and accompanying tour with all dates already confirmed would be announced. One informant also knew that several stadiums had been blocked for a year. A concert ticket provider immediately began operating various venues in September.

Depeche Mode have kept a low profile for a long time

Richard Blade, a friend of the band and known in fan circles for always reliable information, had explained just three weeks before the press conference in Berlin how impatient he was for what would happen. But soon after, Blade backed off. Reason: Depeche Mode would have told him that the photos and information circulating on social media did not come from them. He, Blade, would now wait for an official announcement, which will not be long in coming …

Most fans initially reacted skeptically to the emerging rumors. Andy Fletcher’s sudden death was still too recent in the eyes of many. Some suspected it might be at least a farewell concert for the founding member – with only a few appointments. The fact that this is not the case should at least double the wait for the Depeche Mode Tour 2023. Together with Memento mori (Eng. Be aware of mortality) Dave Gahan and Martin Gore commemorate their friend.

In view of the press conference, the first fragments of the song could already be heard. The sound was rich and melodious, just as fans of the cult band would like.
