A doctor sexually abuses a patient while in the emergency department (ER) at Bunbury Hospital, Western Australia. This was done by the surgeon registrar at the hospital named Priyantha Padmike Dayananda.
This case occurred in December 2017. At that time, he was sexually penetrating a female patient without consent during an abdominal examination.
Not only that, Dayananda also called and messaged the female patient a few weeks after the sexual assault occurred.

“Remember me, I touched your beautiful belly while in the emergency department,” reads one of the text messages sent by Dayananda, quoted from News.com.auSunday (31/7/2022).
As a result of the case, Dayananda was sentenced to three years in prison in June 2019.
In addition, in April 2022, this case was also followed up by the Australian Medical Council. The State Administrative Court said that Dayananda’s case was a professional offense.
Dayananda was also barred from working or registering as a health practitioner for 7 and a half years. He was also required to pay a fee of 10 thousand US dollars or around 148 million rupiah.
