A 3-year-old child fell from the 29th floor of a Manhattan skyscraper on Saturday morning in New York, United States.
Police said the boy fell from the Taino Towers in East Harlem around 11 a.m. He landed on scaffolding erected on the third floor.
An investigation has been opened to determine under what circumstances the boy fell and whether he was accompanied by an adult at the time of the tragedy
Neighbors reported seeing the boy’s mother run to the apartment complex’s security booth as rescuers grabbed a ladder at a construction site to reach the boy on the scaffolding.
“Everyone who was outside was running, climbing,” said Tanjelyn Castro, who was outside washing clothes when the boy fell.
Another neighbor said she heard the two parents of the child arguing shortly before the fall. She also said arguments were common among the couple.
