Videos Uploaded To Instagram Will Turn Into Reels

JAKARTA – Instagram is making significant changes to its video service. Later, everything that users upload will turn into Reels videos. The changes were widely exposed on social media, one of which was revealed by social media consultant, Matt Navarra.

Through his Twitter account, the consultant, who often leaks accurate information about the presence of new features for various social media, revealed that Instagram is currently working on converting all videos to Reels. Proved by him via screenshot (screenshot) one of the user accounts that have been able to feel the changes.

The screenshot shows an interface or pop message that appears when the user is about to upload his video, with the message “currently uploaded video will be shared as (Reels video)”.

In addition, at the bottom of the message there is also an explanation, if the user account is public and allows videos to be converted to Reel, then anyone can find and view their videos. This includes using the original audio they created, to create other new Reels videos, and making remixes of those Reels videos.

Meanwhile, if the user account is privateuploaded Reels videos can only be found and viewed by followers (followers) them only. And other users are broadly unable to use the audio, as well as remix those Reels.

Quoted from techcrunch, Meta as Instagram’s parent company confirmed the change. It said the changes were still in the pilot phase with a number of users globally.

Meta also revealed that this change was taken as a step towards simplifying video services on its platform, which ultimately boils down to user convenience.

“We’re testing this feature as part of our efforts to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram,” said a Meta spokesperson.

Unfortunately it is not explained further until when the trial will be carried out. And is there a possibility that they will cancel the changes after the trial.

Because even though the aim is good, some parties doubt the effectiveness of the changes. For example, it may be difficult to post horizontal videos if all videos will be converted to Reels videos, which are known to use the vertical video format.
