Police headquarters in Fulda, Darmstadt and Offenbach reported some fallen trees and covered bricks. “This could develop in a similar way to the devastating Whitsun storm in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014,” fears meteorologist Jung. Some details would indicate this, but it cannot be concluded yet. In his opinion, there is also increased potential for supercells around the Ahr Valley in Rhineland-Palatinate. Heavy rain could lead to flooding, Jung warns. However, the weather situation is not comparable to that of July 2021, which led to the flood disaster.
