Ashleigh Barty has reached the final of the Australian Open in a very convincing way. The Australian number one in the world left Madison Keys completely without a chance: 6-1, 6-3.
Keys had this tournament impressed with her cannon blows. The American tennis star was also a semi-finalist in Melbourne seven years ago as a teenager, after which a great future was predicted for her. It didn’t come to that. Keys has slipped considerably in the WTA ranking in the last year, even outside the top fifty.
Where top players such as Paula Badosa and Barbora Krejcíková had no answer to Keys’ hard blows this week, that was no problem for Barty. The Australian tennis star neutralized the American danger with quick returns, low backhandslices and almost flawless play.
