Women’s National Team Coach Response Urged by WO in the Women’s Asian Cup

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Coach Indonesian Women’s National Team Rudy Eka Priyambada responded to the suggestion of netizens who asked Garuda Pertiwi to lose the walk over (WO) in 2022 Women’s Asian Cup.

Requests to withdraw from the match so that only losing by a score of 0-3 is considered a way out of the massacre. This is because the women’s national team was massacred 0-18 by Australia in the first match.

The next women’s national team match is against Thailand (24/1) and the Philippines (27/1). Even though they are both from Southeast Asia, these two teams are considered to have better quality and experience than Indonesia.

“Maybe there are friends who say, maybe just lose 3-0 with WO, it doesn’t mean anything. We don’t know if we don’t try our qualities,” said Rudy in the pre-match recording.

“When we try at a high level, world level, Asian level, I think it wakes up everyone, wakes up the football people, wakes up the players themselves,” he added.

The 0-18 loss to Australia was also considered a slap in the face for all parties, not only players, coaches and PSSI. All parties are aware that women’s soccer needs attention.

The players also learned a valuable lesson. Players can see firsthand how the ideal muscle strength of a female footballer, her lifestyle, as well as world stars play.

“Finally they see how Sam Kerr plays, how their muscles are, what their lifestyle is. So we wake up from our dreams. We all have to work hard, like it or not,” he said.

Rudy also asked the public not to sneer at the women’s national team players. According to Rudy, public ridicule and insults will not help players get out of pressure. In fact, this can have a negative impact.

“So please pray, maybe from insults, that scorn also doesn’t help us women’s football. Please understand. This is all a process, a process that we all need to go through,” said Rudy.
