Broadcast BOOS about The Voice today, De Mol wants to respond afterwards

After months of research, Tim Hofman and his team will present their findings about the abuses at the talent show in a new episode of BOOS today at 4 pm. The broadcast can be viewed on YouTube from that time.

Research

To refresh the memory before the start of the episode: last Saturday it was announced that broadcasts of The Voice will be suspended for the time being after accusations of sexually transgressive behavior and abuse of power.

RTL received an email with questions from BOOS and information about the broadcast and found those accusations ‘serious and shocking’. It was decided to conduct an independent investigation and not to broadcast The Voice until then. It was also decided to stop The Voice senior and The Voice kids for an indefinite period of time.

It soon became apparent that the allegations were mainly aimed at Jeroen Rietbergen, band leader of The Voice. Rietbergen acknowledged that the allegations of sexual misconduct against him are true and resigned. He had had relationships of a “sexual nature” with women involved in the program, he reported.

‘Terrible nightmare’

On Monday, his partner Linda de Mol announced that she had broken off her relationship with Rietbergen and will stop working for the time being.

“I’ve been in a terrible nightmare for a few days now,” she wrote in a statement on the website of her magazine LINDA. “So many things have come up that I didn’t know about and because they’re anonymous I don’t know what’s true and what isn’t.”

Anouk, one of the coaches of The Voice, let via Instagram know that she will not return to the program. She called it “a corrupt gang.” Presenter Martijn Krabbe said he was ‘completely surprised’ and ‘in shock’ by the news.

Other coaches

Other coaches also reacted, but did not yet follow Anouk’s example. Some want to wait for the broadcast first. Thus explained Frans Bauer don’t even think about stopping.

Glennis Grace, who has only just joined the program as a coach, already said through her manager that she was ‘in shock’. waylon let know that the allegations cannot be his and called the scandal “very sad”.

This week, former candidates shared their story about the transgressive behavior behind the scenes of the program. This is how Nienke Wijnhoven and Kirsten Berkx moved at Beau to tell about their experiences with Rietbergen.

Declaration

Wijnhoven would have been touched by the band leader, among other things. She has since filed a complaint against him for assault. Jeroen Rietbergen ‘firmly’ denies that he was guilty of this. That is what lawyer Peter Plasman, spokesman for Rietbergen, said yesterday in a response to the report.

When sexually transgressive is seen as punishable, this video explains:

Rietbergen is not the only one who is said to have been guilty of sexually transgressive behaviour. There are also two complaints against The Voice coach Ali B at the Public Prosecution Service. Both for a sex crime case, the first allegedly by a former candidate.

Collaboration stopped

The second came in on Tuesday: it is still unknown who submitted it, but it would not relate to his work at The Voice. After the first report, RTL decided to end the collaboration with the rapper as long as the investigation is ongoing. RTL and ITV call on victims to come forward.

Ali B. previously said he did not recognize himself in the allegations. “Ali has never abused his position and has never acted sexually transgressive,” his management said.

The further content of the BOOS broadcast has been kept secret, today it must become clear which revelations will follow.

Contract with a duty of confidentiality

Reports this morning de Volkskrant however, participants in the program must sign contracts that include a duty of confidentiality. Under the contract of TV producer ITV, the candidates are not allowed to say anything about the outcome of the program, but also not about what goes on behind the scenes.

If this is discussed with ‘third parties’, the participants run the risk of receiving a fine of at least 10,000 euros. The newspaper relies on conversations with those involved and has a copy of a contract in hand.

Letter De Mol to employees of Talpa: ‘The door is always open’

Yesterday producer John de Mol announced that he has sent a letter to all employees of Talpa. De Mol indicates that cross-border behavior can always be discussed with him, revealed presenter Wilfred Genee in the SBS6 program VI Today.

De Mol says in the letter that he is not yet able to say much about the messages surrounding The Voice of Holland, but also “that we can always come by”, Genee said. “As it says here, ‘the door is always open when you’re struggling with something.'”

De Mol has not yet responded in the media to the messages about sexually transgressive behavior behind the scenes of The Voice of Holland. He only wants to do that after the BOOS broadcast, his son Johnny said earlier yesterday in HLF8. De Mol is expected to join a talk show tonight.
