Athletic Bilbao, one of the longest-running teams in the heroic age of Real Madrid and Spanish football, has now played a one-match cup final against each other for the sixth time. The first five, the national cup finals (1916, 1930, 1933, 1943, 1958) were won by the Basques without exception – now the bad series in Madrid is broken.
The first goal after Rodrygo’s preparation was scored by Luka Modric, the second by Penim Karim Benzema. In the 89th minute, Thibaut Courtois made the final victory: he defended a penalty. By then, Madrid was already playing with ten people due to the exhibition of Eder Militao.
