The Hawaiian volcano Kilauea, in continuous eruption since 1983, is home to a rare phenomenon: a magnificent active lava lake, constantly scrutinized by volcanologists. Its incandescent flows, which flow into the Pacific, transform the island layer after layer. After each passage of the lava, the villagers rebuild on the very spot where their old houses lie.
