WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.TV – An asteroid as big as 103 meters or twice as big as Big Ben is rumored to be passing through Earth’s orbit.
NASA revealed that the asteroid is getting closer to planet Earth, and will crash into Earth’s orbit.
Astronomers estimate the massive asteroid impact if it hits Earth, will produce an explosion of 77 megatons of explosive.
The collision would have produced an explosive force 1.5 times greater than the Tsar Bomba, the largest nuclear weapon ever tested.
In addition, the explosion light can damage the retina of the human eye.
The asteroid’s direction has been charted by NASA’s list of all space debris.
The asteroid, named 1994 WR12, was discovered on November 28, 1994 by American astronomer Carolyn S. Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory.
Currently, 1994 WR12 is set to pass Earth at a distance of 3.8 million miles away on Monday (11/29/2021).
Quoted from Mirror, experts say that the asteroid will enter the Earth’s atmosphere is inevitable at some point.
