A lot of ink has been spilled on the subject of coffee. That should come as no surprise, given the huge number of coffee lovers worldwide. Some drink the stuff to wake up, others spend hours making the ideal espresso and others just enjoy having a cup of coffee with friends.

Whichever category you belong to, from now on you no longer have to worry about the impact of coffee on your health. A large-scale study by the European Society of Cardiology, involving no fewer than 468,629 test subjects, shows that the hot drink has a positive effect on your body.
Long list of benefits
For the study, the subjects were divided into three groups: those who drank less than half a cup a day, those who consumed between half a cup and three cups (58.4 percent) and those who drank more cups. The second group emerged as those with the most health benefits. For example, those who drink half a cup to three cups of coffee a day have a 17 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease. The risk of stroke is then reduced by 21%, while the drink also has anti-inflammatory and diabetes-lowering properties.
As if that weren’t enough, coffee also curbs your hunger pangs, which can lead to weight loss. Finally, coffee drinkers also run a lower risk of dementia – we owe this benefit to the substance caffeine, but further research is needed to find out the exact effect. Tea also contains caffeine and is therefore equally efficient, ideal if you are not a fan of that typical coffee taste.
Despite all the benefits of coffee, it is of course important to take care of the rest of your diet and to get enough nutrients.
