The car company Ramet, which has been cooperating with the police for a long time, provided the stickers for cars, their installation with warning systems or the addition of electronics.
“When I took office, the age of the police fleet was probably the biggest problem. Today we can say that after the delivery ends here, the police will have 95 percent new out of 2,800 vehicles in color,” said Hamáček. According to him, the new cars will be distributed to all regions.

For example, according to the regional police director Jaromír Tkadleček, about 20 new Škoda cars will visit the Zlín Region in two stages. “Other, older vehicles will be phased out. These will be the ‘octaves’ of the binary series, which today have driven 320,000 kilometers today. Their operation and maintenance is economically completely different from the new cars,” said Tkadleček.

According to its CEO Rudolf Vácha, the exterior of the cars was provided with stickers and tinting of the rear windows by Ramet employees. “Furthermore, the entire interior is being modified, ie all technological units for the police are being assembled, be it a warning technology, a warning ramp on the roof, then there are warning lights around the entire car,” said Vácha.
According to him, other modifications include the installation of a cable set for a radio station or cabling for camera systems that will be installed in cars. “And then there is the installation of support aids for the police, ie additional sockets for charging and powering twelve-volt appliances, an additional converter for powering appliances to 230 volts and additional interior lighting, which improves service options, especially in case of reduced visibility,” said Vácha. .

Police specialists commented on the form of car modifications. “We often got a car, which we then finished in quotes in some way. Today, after we take it over, the car should meet all the specific conditions for working for the Police (Police of the Czech Republic) and there are not a few of them,” said Tkadleček. According to him, we managed to promote the reinforcement and increase the durability of the chassis and improve the electronics.
According to Vácha, Ramet should complete the modernization of the remaining 357 cars within a month. “Work began in early August, we carry out modifications on ten to 12 cars a day. The value of the contract is in the tens of millions of crowns,” added Vácha.
