US to declassify 9/11 documents

US President Joe Biden

Previously classified documents may reveal the connections of the Saudi Arabian government with terrorists.

United States President Joe Biden ordered the declassification of documents related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This is reported on Friday, September 3 The Washington Post with reference to the statement of the head of state.

Biden recalled that he promised this to his voters.

“When I ran for president, I made a commitment to ensure transparency regarding the declassification of documents on the terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001. Now I keep my word,” the president said.

The document instructs the Ministry of Justice and other departments to oversee the declassification of documents related to investigations into FBI attacks. The decree also states that the US attorney general must release documents within six months.

Earlier, the relatives of the victims of the terrorist attacks, as well as those who survived and participated in the rescue of people, demanded to declassify the documents related to the attacks. About 1.8 thousand people wrote a letter to Biden, demanding that he remove the secrecy label from the documents. They believe that they contain information that makes it possible to prove the involvement of the leadership of Saudi Arabia in the attacks.

Earlier, in the released part of the report on the terrorist attacks, it was said that a number of Saudi Arabians associated with the government of this country helped some of the participants in the terrorist act with money.

It is known that on September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four aircraft flying to the United States. Two of them crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon and another fell near the city of Shanksville as passengers and crew tried to neutralize the invaders.

Then more than 2.9 thousand people died. The terrorist organization Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack.

Saudi Arabian authorities have denied involvement in the attacks.

Recall that Biden announced new US foreign policy – non-interference.
