Today, the police ceremoniously took over the first batch of a total of 538 new Škoda Kodiaq and Superb company vehicles at the Škoda customer center in Mladá Boleslav, with which the police are gradually changing and modernizing their vehicle fleet.
Of a total of 538 new company cars, 500 will be the Kodiaq model. All cars are equipped with a 2.0 TSI petrol engine with an output of 140 kW, which turns all wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission. The cars were delivered in Ambition equipment, but the equipment is further expanded by Škoda Genuine Accessories, such as carpets or a grille in the luggage compartment.

As part of the modifications for the Police of the Czech Republic, the cars were also prepared for a radio station, stickers in a traditional police design or a warning device on the roof and in the front bumper. It is interesting that the inscription STOP moved from the lighthouses behind the glass of the fifth door and behind the shade.
Among other things, a special organizer appeared in the suitcase, enabling safe and clear attachment of other equipment. As the Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček, mentioned during the speech, the equipment of police vehicles has grown significantly in recent years, which is one of the reasons why some police officers have recently switched from station wagons to SUVs. The new Kodiaq police should appear both in mountainous areas, where all-wheel drive is used, and in agglomerations, where higher ground clearance is often appropriate.

„It’s great that people will finally see the cops in the new Kodiaq and Superb cars. It’s proof that I was serious about my promise of an end to the police, a big change in the fleet. What’s more, these SUVs and Superbies certainly don’t end there. I wish the police to drive their cars well. “Said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček.
The traffic police then ordered 38 pieces of the new-generation Škoda Superb model, which will replace obsolete cars with a range of hundreds of thousands of kilometers. This time, however, traffic police officers opted for station wagon cars, which, unlike older motorway specials, they had dressed in standard police colors.
The cars are delivered with a 2.0 TSI petrol engine with an output of 206 kW, which is again connected to the DSG transmission and sends power to all wheels. All cars will be delivered in Ambition equipment, but they will also receive an adaptive chassis. They should then be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.8 seconds and their speed is limited to 250 km / h.

In addition to warning devices, stickers, preparation for the radio station and other small items, the Superby are also equipped with a powerful camera system at the front and rear, which will be used to read license plates and immediately check the payment of tolls. There is a special built-in in the trunk, which the traffic police will be able to use as a mobile office.
„I believe that not only police officers, but also the public will appreciate the further modernization of our vehicle fleet, which is not the last this year. I also see it as a very important benefit that police officers drive in ever safer and more efficient cars with each new means of transport,“Said Police Chief Jan Švejdar.
In conclusion, we can mention that the Škoda carmaker has been supplying cars to police officers and the Ministry of the Interior since 1993. Since then, over 20,000 Škoda cars of various models, specifications and various modifications have been to be handed over.
