On Friday Carl Schou found error in iOSwhen he wanted to connect to WiFi with a special SSID %p%s%s%s%s%n
. iOS then completely deactivates WiFi and can no longer be activated. Neither restarting nor changing the SSID will help. Only resetting the network settings will help. However, this will lose, for example, stored WiFi passwords.
The bug in iOS seems to be in a misinterpretation of the string, %s
for example, it is commonly used in printf. Android does not suffer from such vulnerabilities.
