Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria responding to the governor’s statement Anies Baswedan about the announcement of the bicycle lane plan road bike.
Riza denied that he was the one who informed the public regarding the plan for a special lane for road bikes.
“So what I convey is the result of an agreement between the Transportation Agency meeting with the Regional Police, the Mayor of South Jakarta and all of them, and this was announced before I submitted it. I never announced the results of the meeting,” said Riza at City Hall, Thursday (3/6).
According to Riza, the provision of special road bike lanes has been announced since the first meeting between the DKI Provincial Government, Polda Metro Jaya, and a number of bicycle communities. The announcement was made when establishing a road bike trial on the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT) on May 23, 2021.
According to Riza, after the trial was carried out on May 23 and 30, his party held another meeting on May 31. The meeting was also attended by the Department of Transportation and the ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya.
From the results of the meeting, it was stated that the DKI Provincial Government plans to make the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang JLNT a permanent route for road bikes on weekends.
Then, in the meeting, it was also discussed that the DKI Provincial Government will arrange bicycle lanes in Sudirman-Thamrin so that it can accommodate cyclists, both road bikes and non-road bikes.
“Saturday-Sunday an additional Sudirman-Thamrin pop-up lane will be prepared specifically for non-road bike cyclists, road bike cyclists will be directed to non-toll flyovers,” Riza explained.
“The Sudirman-Thamrin road bike path is allowed on Monday-Friday, from 5 to 6.30, other than that time it is prohibited and all cyclists are required to use a permanent bicycle lane,” he added.
The Gerindra Party politician stressed that there was nothing wrong in this. According to him, the results of the meeting have also been copied to Governor Anies, himself, Regional Secretary Marullah Matali, Assistant for the Economy and Finance Sri Haryati, and TGUPP Chair Amin Subekti.
“So, there is nothing wrong here and this is copied, the results are addressed to the Governor, addressed to the Deputy Governor, Regional Secretary, Asperkeu, TGUPP chairman,” he explained.
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan previously criticized those who announced the rules regarding road bike lanes. In fact, according to him, the regulation is not final and is still in the discussion stage.
“We will discuss it first, then we will convey it. Because the policy has just announced the rules. I always underline don’t, so the state administrator, the government, announces it before making the rules,” said Anies.
According to Anies, if the policy or regulation has not been finalized, but has been conveyed to the public, it will actually overwhelm the officers in the field.
“Later, sorry for the officers in the field. If you want to make rules, prepare the documents first. Prepare the rules first. Then they will be announced. Otherwise, there will be trouble in the field. So let us make the rules first, then we will announce them,” he explained
