On the eve of the Oscar night, the death of fashion designer Alber Elbaz becomes known. He died unexpectedly at the age of 59 in Paris from Covid-19. Elbaz, of Moroccan Jewish descent, worked first for Guy Laroche and Yves Saint-Laurent and then 14 years for Lanvin, where he was creative director.
Alber Elbaz breathed new life into Lanvin and rose to fame with playful cocktail dresses. In 2015 he was kicked out there anyway. He also made a small collection for H&M. In 2019 Elbaz founded its own brand AZ Factory.
