Hospitals call for donations

The Erasmus Fund and the ULB Foundation (Free University of Brussels) launched this Friday a call for donations to increase the Covid-19 units fitted to the Erasmus hospital and to finance a research program on a molecule capable of better protecting cells of the lungs from virus attacks.

Erasme Academic Hospital needs one million euros to carry out its project to transform hospital units into non-intensive Covid-19 units. They would allow technical acts such as dialysis, ventilatory support and later revalidation to be carried out under close supervision.

The Free University of Brussels has already decided to finance the transformation of a care unit into a Covid-19 unit, but there are plans to transform the hospital more widely by creating different Covid-19 units at the level of emergencies, hospital rooms and intensive care.

Donations can be paid into the account BE79 2100 4294 0033 on behalf of the Free University of Brussels (avenue Franklin Roosevelt, 50 – 1050 Brussels) with free communication Coronavirus support”. A certificate of tax deductibility will be provided for any donation over 40 €.

The remainder of the fundraising will go to the research program to compare, first, the infusion of angiotensin 1-7 with the standard treatment currently used for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus disease. Researchers at the ULB Faculty of Medicine and the Erasmus Academic Hospital are pursuing the goal of proving a significant improvement in lung damage and reducing mortality.

Vivalia requests material

Vivalia, the intermunicipal healthcare organization which brings together all the hospitals in the province of Luxembourg, also launched a call for donations to finance new respirators, masks and equipment.
