Andrey Rublev is one of the fittest tennis players on the ATP circuit in the last two years despite the stoppage of the 2020 season in tennis due to the coronavirus pandemic and he demonstrated it again with another new one prestigious title after winning the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam after beating Marton Fucsovics in the final.
With this triumph Rublev, who has the Spanish Fernando Vicente as coach, continues to extend his streak of consecutive victories in ATP 500 category tournaments, where he has already accumulated 20 consecutive wins in which he has also managed to win the ATP 500 tournaments in Hamburg, Saint Petersburg and Vienna.
According to the ATP on its website only two tennis players improve Rublev’s statistics in ATP 500 tournaments: the Swiss Roger Federer, who went on to chain 28 wins in a row between 2014 and 2016, and the Scotsman Andy Murray, which added 21 consecutive victories between 2016 and 2017.
Rublev also continues with his great streak of results in this 2021, since he has achieved 13 victories in 14 games, falling only to Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open quarterfinals after helping Russia win the ATP Cup.
His triumph in Rotterdam also allows Rublev to show off his effectiveness in tournament finals. In the last seven finals that Rublev has played, he has won the title in all seven. “I feel happy. It has been a fantastic week. I have had a great last year and a half. We will see if I can maintain it and establish myself as a Top-10 player,” Rublev said after winning the title in Rotterdam.
