Despite being partially banned by Spotify, Morgan Wallen is racking up some serious streaming numbers.

Morgan Wallen has been removed from nearly every radio station in America for over a month. But now it seems that Wallen fans are simply switching to platforms like Spotify. According to details shared with Digital Music News tonight, Wallen’s “Whiskey Glasses”, released in July 2018, just crossed 300 million total streams, a huge number fueled by a February surge.

That’s easily Wallen’s most-played track, though they are also building on several hits from his recently released Dangerous: The Double Album. That includes “7 Summers,” which crossed the 100 million mark this week (the song currently has over 105 million total views and counting). “7 Summers” has also spent more than 200 days on the US Spotify chart (the song was released in August of last year before the full album was released).

He’s also exploiting Wallen’s collaboration with Diplo, “Heartless.” That track now has nearly 215 million views, thanks in part to the expanded audience Diplo agreed to. In total, Wallen has easily crossed over a billion streams on Spotify, a threshold rarely reached by artists on the platform.

Other songs are running solidly as well, with fans putting Dangerous on a huge rotation. In total, Wallen currently has 10 separate tracks in the US Spotify top 200, headed by “Wasted on You,” “Sand In My Boots” and Somebody’s Problem, “each of which earns more than 300,000 plays. a day on the platform. .

Those numbers seem to be forcing Spotify’s hand.

In early February, Spotify removed Wallen from all of its curated playlists after the singer was filmed uttering the n-word after a night out. But the streaming giant is slowing down to allow Wallen back in, potentially in an attempt to keep Wallen fans on its platform. Late last month, Wallen made a sudden reappearance at Spotify’s Country Coffeehouse, which draws more than 600,000 followers. Soon after, Diplo’s cheat-infused “Heartless” appeared on Country Favorites, which has nearly 200,000 followers.

Now the question is whether Spotify will rejoin Wallen on its country playlist, Hot Country, which has more than 6.2 million followers.
