There is clearly a cross-cutting theme at CES 2023: the 16 and 18-inch notebooks, announced by Acer, Razer and even Alienware, although it is almost certain that brands such as HP and Lenovo will also present their gaming giants in this trend going back to big gaming laptops. The 15- and 17-inch models appear to be falling out of favor this year, and it’s unclear whether Alienware will continue to sell them.
Thus, for this year we will have 16 and 18-inch options, with the latter size incorporating the M18 model, which will arrive with 13th generation Intel Core HX processors up to i9 and offer a maximum configuration with an Nvidia RTX 4090 , before to also be available with AMD graphics and processors.
Unlike the new Razer Blade 18, which was only superficially detailed, we know a little more about the Alienware 18, such as the odd option for a 16:10 screen, not common in games, and which can go up to QHD resolution. RAM is user-upgradeable and there’s room for a whopping 9TB of internal NVMe storage.
Meanwhile, Alienware’s announcement also includes an update for the X16 model, which will come with new 13th Generation Intel Core processors, with a maximum configuration including an RTX 4090.
While the X family will have 14- and 16-inch models available, the M-family will go for larger sizes, with the M18 joined by the M16. The 15-inch and 17-inch models seem to have been permanently left behind.
