There were no supporters once again in Michel-Bendichou but the Columérins still played with the hearts of the assistance present and especially with their own nerves. Blame it on a first act that was not mastered, and yet started with a bang. With the wind at your back, however, the opportunity was great to detach before the break and widen a significant gap before the return from the locker room.
Alas, it did not happen and the 6-6 could even seem somewhat advantageous for the members of the club with the dove. Indeed, without a saving return from Maxime Laforgue in the race ahead of Nicolas Plazy (39), the case, tight as possible, could have been very badly started.
As expected, the Columérins came across a tough opponent, very robust in the clinch and difficult in the ground game. But also very playful, as the first 40 minutes showed with some flashes of light, notably from Thomas Zénon.
Colomiers therefore relied initially on his gunners, Gilen Queheille and Sebastian Poet to furnish the score. The melee half opened the scoring by nearly 57 yards. But Béziers by Latorre responded and the interception of Alvar Gimeno just before the break and the rescue of Laforgue therefore showed Héraultais as catchy as possible. Colomiers, who committed many fouls, had to turn his back.
Rokoduguni shows himself
The second act saw the Columérins more lively with the ball in hand and still equally flawless in conquest and especially in scrum. The balls carried were also in tune with a front eight which will have battled but will never be really surprised. The very aggressive Biterroise defense always made mistakes as on the forward of Queheille (46). Under the leadership of Edoardo Gori, the tactical management and occupation of the field allowed the players of the Berneau-Sarraute tandem to breathe fresh air. And Fijian winger Peni Rokoduguni was showing to his advantage. Josua Vici’s cousin was very close to scoring before the hour mark on an individual feat after resisting two tackles. The test refused by Mr. Bouzac kept the Columérins under pressure. The many turnovers and other counter-rucks gleaned from both camps, testimony to a very big tussle in the fight continued until the last moments of the debates. Béziers, who will not have stolen his defensive bonus point, leaves for Hérault with some certainty, while Colomiers can prepare his trip to Nevers with the feeling of duty accomplished.
