The spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Mujahid, stated that what was circulating that Egypt will witness an increase in infections and deaths due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus, Covid 19, in April is incorrect.
Whereas, the permit has been cut out in full and he explained that through the lessons learned from the first wave, which showed that there is an increase in injuries in April 2020, as expectations indicate that it is possible and not certain that April will witness an increase in the number of injuries.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid added from a telephone conversation with Extra News channel yesterday, Thursday, and said that it is not certain that the infection rate will increase during this period of time, but we have to ensure that all precautionary and health measures are applied to prevent this from happening.
He continued his words and said that there is another matter, which is that the month of April 2021 coincides with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, and it is common knowledge to increase family visits, and thus there is more opportunity for mixing and then increasing the number of injuries.
Therefore, we stress on all citizens the need to adhere to preventive and health measures and reduce family gatherings during the celebration at religious events. As for Egypt’s role towards non-Egyptians residing there, he said that Egypt provided health care to Egypt’s expatriate guests.
They have also been treated humanely at the highest level according to the directives of the political leadership, including the service Egyptians receive and the initiatives launched by the President to care for public health. The service provided to more than 7 million non-Egyptians residing in Egypt for free.
