Five people were killed on Sunday by an avalanche in the Dachstein mountains in Austria. According to local media, the people who participated in a snow walk probably come from the Czech Republic.
The winter sports enthusiasts were hit by the avalanche around 9:30 am at 2,700 to 2,800 meters. A lot of snow has fallen in the area in recent days and there is a strong wind. A rescue officer says against South Tyrol News that these weather conditions probably caused the avalanche.
