Physical education in the gym or at a distance and use of masks, indications of the USR Veneto

With the resumption of didactic activities in presence also for schools of the 2nd degree from 1 February, the USR sheds light on the safe conduct of physical and motor education curricular activities, in particular for those that take place within the school gyms.

Practical physical and physical education activities in the gym can be carried out regularly, in compliance with the already known prevention measures, namely:

• distance of the students from each other and between students and teacher of at least 2 meters during the activities;
• spacing of at least 1 meter between students in the changing rooms;
• periodic hand disinfection for students and teachers;
• disinfection (e.g. with water and bleach) of the gym floor, gymnastic equipment and changing rooms when changing classes;
• frequent airing of the gym and changing rooms.

During physical and motor education activities, it is possible to lower the mask only if the interpersonal distance of at least 2 meters is constantly maintained between the students. The USSR therefore advises favoring activities
individual physical and motor skills that allow to continuously guarantee this distance.

When the climatic conditions allow it and in the foreshadowing of being able to more easily maintain the interpersonal distance of at least 2 meters during the lesson, we read in the note, it is advisable to carry out physical and motor education activities outdoors.

For sports schools, learning and experimenting with the techniques that characterize the various sports disciplines, given their intrinsically experiential nature, must be guaranteed as far as possible through activities to be carried out in presence.

In all cases in which the Physical Education activities cannot be carried out in the presence, the teachers in charge will develop only the theoretical part of the discipline in distance learning, refraining from requiring students to exercise or domestic motor activities, both in synchronous and asynchronous mode. .
