The community meeting in Thalwil had to be canceled several times due to Corona. This was also the case on September 10th when too many people attended.

Attending the community meeting is currently not easy for many. Elderly people in particular refrain from participating because they are concerned about being infected with the coronavirus. According to the Federal Council, community meetings may and should continue to take place if a protection concept is in place. The Zurich Government Council has now decided that municipalities may exceptionally decide on the budget at the ballot box. Loans and land-use plans that have “a significant public interest” are also allowed to vote. The reason: “People from risk groups who cannot take part in community meetings are restricted in their democratic participation,” writes the Zurich cantonal government in a message.
