Studio Ghibli has The Boy and the Heron, in German The Boy and the Heron, a new film released. The USA and Australia can now look forward to the theatrical release in their own country, after Japan was able to see the film several months ago.

What is being praised? The critics are enthusiastic about the typical style that defines Studio Ghibli. No matter at what point a still image of the film would be created, it could be hung on the wall for decoration.
The animations are also fabulous. The characters would move naturally. Hair and wrinkles are always in beautiful flowing movements. The film is also well balanced: heavy topics are juxtaposed with funny moments.
The Boy and the Heron is also intended to make you think. Cinemagoers would ask themselves questions about life and question how people on this earth treat each other.
What is being criticized? Some critics are disappointed that there is “nothing new” with The Boy and the Heron. Miyazaki would stick to his old formula and not take any new steps like I did in Spirited Away.
In addition, some plot elements were written in such a confusing way that they dampened the “potential emotional power”. This would make the narrative seem confusing. The plot would stall, especially in the second section of the film.
