Friday morning landed two planes from South Africa at Schiphol International Airport in the Netherlands. That same morning, the Dutch authorities imposed a flight ban on all flights from southern Africa.
The passengers had to wait for several hours on getting off the plane. The Dutch health authorities wanted to test all passengers.
On Friday night, it became clear that 61 of the 600 passengers tested positive, the newspaper writes General newspaper.
It is not known if they are infected with the new omicron variant, but the Dutch health authorities are analyzing the samples to find out.
People who have tested positive are required to isolate themselves in a quarantine hotel for at least seven days in case of symptoms, and five days if they have no symptoms.
Those who test negative must be in home quarantine for five days and test again on day five.
